Dog Food

QUESTION:

Okay, need a little help. My bassets have been fed Flint River Ranch dry dog food all their lives. Like everything else it has gone up in price significantly over the past year...around $68.00/40#. I have been laid off of work and I need to re-examine expenses in all areas of my life to sustain. I am thinking about seeking out another brand of dog food that is less expensive but provides a comparable nutritional diet. Can you make a recommendation?

DEBRA'S ANSWER:

Readers? (I don't have a dog).

Debra :-)

COMMENTS:

If you have a Costco in your area, their brand of dog food seems to be of good quality and doesn't include corn, etc.

Have you tried home made dog food? Go to Amazon.com and order Barker's Grub : Easy, Wholesome Home-Cooking for Dogs by Rudy Edalati. It has a wealth of info.It should be less expensive than Flint River and feeding your dog unprocessed food is healthy.

I have been feeding my Min Pin the IAMS Naturals, not sure how it compares to the brand you've been using but might be something to look at.
