Summer is really coming upon us here in Florida. We've been swimming in our chlorine-free pool and planting flowers and vegetables in our organic garden. We already have a few ripe tomatoes and our strawberry plants are flowering for their second harvest. If it's not yet summer where you are...it's on it's way!

MONEY-SAVING TIPS: Affordable Green Laundry Products Last week I received this email from J.T. in Jamesburg, NJ... "I have no problem buying laundry detergent that is better for the environment from health food stores, but being a stay at home mom to 3 children means that I have to be careful with my food budget. The thought of using something better for us and the environment is great, but the cost is astronomical. A 128 oz bottle of ECOS in my food store is $18.98 compared to $3.99-$5.99 for another name brand that might not be a safe to use. "Do you have any suggestions on using something better for us at a cheaper price? I found a list on line of safer products that included ALL Detergent Free and Clear. That particular detergent in my food store is $5.99. That would be a price that I could handle but is it really as safe as something you would buy in a health food store?"

Q & A: Safe tile grout and backerboard
Thanks to all your tips, my wife is really feeling much better with her MCS. In fact, we're now carefully considering putting a tile floor where the carpet used to be in the bathroom adjacent to her bedroom. Using your recommendations we have found safe tile adhesives and grout sealers but we can't find anything about safe grouts. Can you recommend any products for a chemically safe grout and are there any problems to watch out for in the cement board underlayment materials?

Q & A: Safety of titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and iron oxides I've recently found some cosmetic powders mostly made of cornstarch and iron oxides. Are iron oxides just as bad as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide? After reading about these ingredients in your e-book Debra's Guide To Choosing Natural Sun Protection I'm wondering if iron oxides are just as bad. Thanks! Thanks also for the e-book!!!
