Dear Debra,

This is the first issue of a new newsletter I'll be sending out every other week. I've been working on a lot of new material about how you can improve your health by removing toxic chemicals from your home and reduce the effects your consumer choices have on the environment. Daily I am adding new resources to my website that can help you make decisions about products you use in your home every day, and other related health and environmental topics.

  • Home Safe Home New Edition Coming in December

After two delays, my publisher now tells me that everything is on schedule for the December 22 release of the new, updated, revised edition of my book Home Safe Home. I'm very excited about this new edition as it contains a lot of new information on the toxicity of products as well as safe solutions. I've added a whole new chapter too on building and remodeling materials. I'm waiting to hear if books will be available for holiday gifts. I'll let you know...

Fluoride Even More Harmful Than Previously Known

Fluoride in drinking water has been a controversial topic over the years. The Fluoride Deception reveals studies that show the government knew fluoride was extermely toxic before it was ever added to our drinking water. This new book is filled with little-known facts about fluoride, substantiated with over 100 pages of references. You'll learn that fluoride is prevalent in many consumer products. The popular plastic Teflon, for example, is a fluoride-based plastic. Before Teflon was ever used commercially on frying pans and irons, British scientists visiting a factory making Teflon for wartime use confirmed that "heated Teflon fumes were linked with excessive weakness, tiredness, nausea, and sore throat." The story of how fluoride came to be in our water supply is fascinating--a eye-opening example of how toxic chemicals have come to be so commonplace in our world. order now from amazon.com...

    "Debra's List" almost on-line

When I revised Home Safe Home, there were too many resources to fit in the book, so I'm working on putting links to products, non-profits, books, and more on my website. It is a HUGE task, as I have over 1000 links to post. Rather than wait until I can do the production work on all of them, I'm going to start posting them in the next couple of weeks.

Here are just three of the links:

Back-to-school shopping. A nifty list of eco-friendly back-to-school products you'll probably be purchasing for your child--including paper and notebooks, pens and pencils, clothes, cosmetics, and backpacks. Learn the environmental effects of these products, what to look for when you're considering products, and brand name products. Print out the buying guide to take with you when shopping. go to the website...

Green Home Guide. This is a brand new website, dedicated to making it easier for consumers to choose green building and remodeling products. Click on "products" and you'll find essays on choosing green products and lists of links to the most popular green products of that type. Click on "projects" then "nursery" and you can read an article I wrote on creating a green nursery. The site is targeted for Northern California resources, but is worth visiting regardless of where you live. go to the website...

Glass Wizard. You may have seen this on TV. It's a microfiber cloth on a plastic holder that cleans glass, mirrors, and tile with just a squirt of water--no toxic chemicals. I tried it on a window and it's crystal clear. I bought mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond. go to the website...

    How I Recovered from MCS

Many of my readers have asked over the years, "How did you recover from multiple chemical sensitivities?" I finally wrote out everything I did and it is now posted on my website. Please pass this story along to anyone you know who has MCS. I want people to know recovery is possible.
